Funding for Alternative Provision Placements

As of 1st September, 2026, placements are purchased as follows;

Schools within the Leeds authority;

• An annual SLA, costing £19, 500 a year for an agreed AIP citywide or south place. 

• A termly SLA, costing £6, 500 a term for an agreed AIP citywide or south place. 

• A termly SLA, costing  £8, 125 a term for a private place. 

Schools in a different Leeds authority;

• An annual SLA, costing £37, 375 a year 

• A termly SLA, costing £12, 500 a term 

If a pupil requires one to one support, it is the responsibility of the commissioner to provide this.

This fee is from start to end of placement whilst dual registered, including Fridays. It is inclusive of training days, pupil absence for any reason, Reach having to close in the event of any unforeseen circumstances or emergencies 

Funding for Pupils with Cockburn Reach Academy named on their EHCP

This funding is paid by the local authority.

The referral process for alternative provision placements is as follows:

Following receipt of your referral, if it hasn't already, a pupil observation will take place. Using the information from the referral and the observation, a decision will then be made by the Reach Panel as to whether or not  a place can be offered.  You will receive the outcome of this decision with three working days.  If a placement is offered,  you will receive a request for further information.  Once we have received all of this, an SLA meeting will then be arranged.
